GAWB price monitoring 2025–30

On 23 May 2024, the QCA received an amending referral notice from the Queensland Government to undertake a price monitoring investigation into Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) for the pricing period from 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2030. The amending referral notice is available below along with the initial referral notice issued to us on 14 December 2023.

The amending referral excludes consideration of the Fitzroy to Gladstone Pipeline from the price monitoring investigation so that the impacts associated with it can be considered with greater precision in a subsequent QCA investigation closer to the commissioning of the project, which is expected in 2026.

On 31 May 2024, GAWB provided its initial submission setting out its proposed prices for the 2025-30 price monitoring period. GAWB’s submission and supporting documentation are available below.

Our price monitoring investigation has commenced and will consider a range of matters, including the appropriate prices for the period that provide GAWB sufficient revenue to recover its prudent and efficient costs.

We are now seeking initial stakeholder submissions in response to GAWB’s submission by 31 July 2024. Key steps are outlined below.
