Supplementary electricity pricing review 2020–21

On 25 June 2020, we published the regulated electricity prices (notified prices) for regional Queensland to apply from 1 July 2020.

On 24 June 2020, we received a delegation from the Minister for Natural Resources, Mines and Energy to set three new electricity (load control) retail tariffs for 2020–21. The new tariffs were to apply from 1 November 2020 and supplement the existing suite of notified prices for customers in regional Queensland in 2020–21.

We informed stakeholders of this review and published a stakeholder notice with further information, including an initial consultation timetable with key project milestones.

On 3 August 2020, we received another delegation from the Minister to set eight additional retail tariffs for 2020–21. The new tariffs applied from 1 January 2021 and supplemented the existing suite of notified prices for customers in regional Queensland in 2020–21.

On 16 October 2020, we published the final determination for 11 additional tariffs. Details about this review are below.

Combined supplementary notified prices review

Given the timeframes, likely similar interested stakeholders and the related subject matter, we combined the review of the new load control tariffs with the review to set eight additional retail tariffs.

Draft determination

On 25 August 2020, we published our draft determination on the supplementary notified prices for 2020–21 (three new load control tariffs and the suite of eight additional retail tariffs).

We received 4 submissions in response to the draft determination.

Final determination

On 16 October 2020, we published our final determination on the supplementary notified prices for 2020–21. These include:

• three new load control tariffs, which commenced on 1 November 2020
• eight additional retail tariffs, which commenced on 1 January 2021.
