Dr Malcolm Roberts resigns as chairman of the Queensland Competition Authority

The Queensland Competition Authority (QCA) announced today that its chairman, Malcolm Roberts, will be leaving the authority on 5th June.

Dr Roberts has accepted the position of chief executive officer of the Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association (APPEA). APPEA represents Australia’s oil and gas industry.

“I have greatly enjoyed my time over the last two and half years with the QCA. It has been a pleasure to work with my board colleagues, Dr David Watson and Dr Sally Pitkin, and all the professional staff of the QCA," said Dr Roberts.

“During that time, we focused on improving our engagement with the people affected by our regulatory decisions. Our decisions haven’t always been popular but we have listened carefully to community concerns and done our best to explain the reasons for each decision.

“It is always difficult to leave when some key projects are still to be finished. However, I am absolutely confident that the QCA will continue to deliver the right decisions for Queensland," Dr Roberts said.
