The Queensland Competition Authority (QCA) has today released its scoping paper on south east Queensland (SEQ) retail electricity market monitoring for 2016-17 for public comment.
“The scoping paper has been released after the QCA received a direction from the Minister for Energy and Water Supply, the Honourable Mark Bailey MP, to monitor the operation of the SEQ retail electricity market for residential and small business customers for 2016-17,” QCA Chair, Professor Roy Green said.
“The scoping paper provides an overview of the type of information the QCA intends to present in the market monitoring report, the type of information the QCA will need to collect to complete the report and the QCA’s indicative timeframes for the project.
“As this is the QCA’s first market monitoring report since SEQ retail electricity prices has been deregulated, the QCA is seeking community and stakeholder input on the approach it should take in monitoring the operation of the market for 2016-17.
“We encourage interested members of the community as well as business and industry to make a submission,” Professor Green said.
Submissions on the scoping paper are due by 30 November 2016 and can be made via the QCA’s website www.qca.org.au.
The QCA must provide the Minister with a copy of the final SEQ retail electricity market monitoring report no later than 31 October 2017 and publish the report on the QCA website on 31 October 2017.
